巴黎凯旋门，即雄狮凯旋门，为巴黎四大代表建筑之一。座落在法国巴黎市中心夏尔·戴高乐广场（又称星形广场）中央。凯旋门是欧洲纪念战争胜利的一种建筑。是拿破仑为纪念1805年打败奥俄联军的胜利，于1806年2月下令兴建的。拿破仑被推翻后，凯旋门工程中途辍止。波旁王朝被推翻后又重新复工，到1836年终于全部竣工。它是欧洲100多座凯旋门中最大的一座。
巴黎凯旋门全部由石材建成，高约50米,宽约45米，厚约22米。四面各有一门，中心拱门高36.6米，宽14.6米。 巴黎12条大街都以凯旋门为中心，向四周放射，气势磅礴，为欧洲大城市的设计典范。
The Arc de Triomphe is a monument in Paris , France that stands in the centre of the Place Cha-rles de Gaulle, also known as the “Place de I’Étoile”.[1] It is at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.The triumphal arch honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. On the inside and the top of the arc there are all of the names of generals and wars fought. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I.
The monument stands 49.5 m in height, 45 m wide and 22 m deep. It is the second largest triumphal arch in existence. The Arc de Triomphe is so colossal that three weeks after the Paris victory parade in 1919, marking the end of hostilities in World War I, Charles Godefroy flew his Nieuport biplane through it, with the event captured on newsreel.
